"This was the first tour I played on as a Junior and it was a great learning experience. It taught me all aspects of tournament golf and it helped in my development to becoming a professional golfer”.

About Us

The Durham Junior Golf Tour is celebrating its 20th year of providing the regions premier junior golf series. The programs and goals are designed to provide our Juniors with the opportunity to experience golf under tournament conditions and at the same time, the Juniors are learning the Rules of Golf, building individual character, integrity, meeting new friends and developing sportsmanship. All of this, while having fun! The program runs for three months over the summer season. The tour is open to both male and female golfers, 18 years of age and younger, who reside in our competitive region or are a member of a golf course in our competitive region.

Our season will commence in May with our Tour Qualifier at Oliver’s Nest Golf Club. Last season we had over 100 participants vying for 50 open positions. In total 60 participants will compete in 10 events played over the spring and summer. The season will conclude with the Tour Championship, a two day event and banquet being hosted by Dalewood Golf Club.

Over the course of the championship series, all golfers earn points based on their finish in each event, with the ultimate goal of winning the Hal Butler Trophy.

Goals & Objectives

To create opportunities for junior golfers to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf.

To motivate and educate junior golfers that through golf they may learn values of honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship to last them for a lifetime.

To serve as a communications center for all junior golfers as relates to tournaments, education, scholarships, etc.

To dedicate ourselves and our junior golfers to be the best they can be on and off the golf course.

New for 2011

In an effort to further enhance our programs, Durham Junior Golf Tour has partnered with the Optimist Club of Brooklin to combine our qualifier with the Optimist District Qualifier. Participants will not only have the opportunity to vie for a position on the Durham Junior Golf Tour but also qualify for the Central Ontario District Championships of The Optimist International Junior Golf Championship.

Enhancements have been made to both our Development Program and Match Play competition.

In addition, we have established a winter tournament and development program during the March school break. Our Spring Classic series based at the Legends Resort in Myrtle Beach is recognized by “Junior Golf Scoreboard” as a ranked tournament series.
